THEOLOGICAL VALUES

 

GREATNESS OF GOD

We value the Greatness of God as revealed to us by His Son Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and His Holy Word, the Bible.

Isaiah 6:1-6                Revelation 4:11

 

AUTHORITY OF THE BIBLE

We value the Authority of the Bible inspired by God for teaching, reproof, correction, and instruction of righteousness as obedient Disciples of Christ.

2 Timothy 3:16           Hebrews 4:12-13

 

MISSIONS

We value Missions because we are commanded by Jesus to go to all people and make disciples of them, teaching them to follow Jesus.

SALVATION

We value Salvation, God’s free gift of everlasting life to all people who repent of their sins and trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is according to His will and great love.

OPERATIONAL VALUES

 

EVANGELISM/OUTREACH

Evangelism/Outreach is following Jesus’ example in sharing with people the good news of God’s love by teaching, serving, and witnessing.

PRAYER

Prayer is the power, priority, and privilege of uninterrupted communion with God the Father and the source of gaining wisdom, peace, and direction to fulfill His sovereign will.

1 Thessalonians 5:17        Matthew 6:5-10

 

MINISTRY

Christian ministry is the extension of God’s love that demonstrates Christ’s continuing acts of mercy, grace, and compassion through intentional Kingdom work in Jesus’ name for the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20            Galatians 6:10

 

PURPOSE

The Purpose of the Grady County Baptist Association is to exalt Jesus Christ through cooperatively equipping and encouraging our churches in fulfilling the Great Commission to the ends of the earth.

PRIORITIES

·       Prayer: To assist and encourage church members to develop and embrace an intimate, passionate walk with Jesus Christ

Goals for Prayer:

1.      Participate in one prayer conference or retreat per year

2.      Encourage churches to develop and strengthen prayer teams, partners, and mentors on a monthly basis

3.      Encourage quarterly prayer walks in all communities in Grady County

 

Action Plan:

1.      Promote Georgia Baptist Convention Conferences dealing with prayer (i.e.,” Speechless”)

      2.    Promote local prayer conference for the Association

3.    Identify called prayer leader(s) from each church

4.    Association Prayer Coordinator will personally meet with all pastors and the prayer leaders from     each church

5.   Begin/continue prayer walks:

Churches are assigned various schools in the county

Prayer walks before block parties and manna drop

Prayer walks for sheriff, police, fire dept., courthouse, prison, and other govt. agencies

Prayer walk for Pregnancy Crisis Center, Grady General

Prayer walk for a church each month

Support FCA’s See You at the Pole and National Day of Prayer

·       Mission/Evangelism: To assist and encourage churches to support and develop missions and to lead the lost to Christ

 

Goals for Mission/Evangelism:

1.      Encourage 30% of churches to become Acts. 1:8 churches by 2016

2.      Assist churches to recognize and identify specific needs within their community by Dec. 2018

3.      Start one new ministry, church work in the next 3 years

4.      Encourage each church in Grady County to increase baptisms by 10% over the next 3 years

 

Action Plan:

1.      John Paul will share the Acts 1:8 church vision and ask churches to be committed

Encourage churches to communicate what they’re doing and invite others to be involved (mission trips, community mission activities, etc.)

Commit to pray for an unreached people group—including using technology to reach others (Facebook, etc.)

2.      Use Georgia Baptist demographics to identify these groups

Multi-cultural ethnicity research

Complete survey at block party

3.      Identify places that have a need a new work  and contact Georgia Baptist Convention New Church Development Ministry for future steps

4.      Challenge churches to set a goal for baptisms over the next 3 years

Promote, encourage, and commit to a Soul Winning Commitment Day; use associational ordered    packets to distribute to churches

 ·       Community/ Fellowship: To assist and encourage churches to create an atmosphere of unity and cooperation in the spirit of Christ

 

Goals for Community/Fellowship:

1.      Block party annually using one of the 5 county quadrants

2.      Manna drop –in coordination with block parties

3.      Celebration of Missions

 

Action Plan:

1.      Block party to share the Gospel: decide on location using breakdown of churches, host, activities, and schedule.  Equip evangelism trailer with necessary items for block party: sound equipment, jumpy house, etc.   The evangelism trailer can be used at other functions as needed by the Association such as Mule Day, VBS, new church starts, etc.

2.      Use 2nd Harvest for manna drop with budgeted funds from the Association

(Also encourage churches to donate clothing items and possibly school items if block party is coordinated with the beginning of school)

3.      Have Celebration of Missions annually: determine location, agenda, and people/groups to share

·       Education/Equipping: To assist and encourage church members to hunger after God’s Holiness

 

Goals for Education/Equipping:

1.      Begin and develop a resource directory by the end of 2013 (skills, training courses, mentors, coaches, etc.)

2.      Encourage church leaders to seek out and mentor one church member yearly

 

Action Plan:

1.      Develop a form to list church member data including all relevant information, i.e., name, address, email, phone number, and areas of expertise.  Could be used with ACP to receive and update information.

        Update website to display and manage information.

2.      Utilize the form data to encourage pastors, elders, deacons, Sunday School leaders, and mission leaders to mentor other church members.
